The DDLC Purist Mod began development in September 2017 shortly after Doki Doki Literature Club's release, initially with development members GarnetSunset, Tabuukilla, and Syzygy. The mod includes over 60 minutes of original soundtrack composed by Matt Twigg, consisting of 20 tracks, which released on the 22nd August 2018. The mod includes several pieces of original art created by artists including Temachii and PeachCake as well as several others. The DDLC Purist Mod added 11+ hours of additional playtime to the base game, with each girl having a full-length route with at least one good and one bad ending. The DDLC Purist Mod has been in development since September 2017 and was released on the 24th of August 2018.
The mod takes place after the events of the game as a continuation of the story. The DDLC Purist Mod aims to turn Doki Doki Literature Club into a traditional visual novel/dating sim.
